Our forward-thinking client, Ethical Power Connections (EPC), approached us to provide an offsite precast solution for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Berkeley. The project involves a 132kV grid connection along with the customers private 132KV substation, 33kV network along with the BESS installation.

Ethical Power commissioned 107 various precast FastBase® units from twin skid plinths to battery strip foundations to eliminate in-situ works, reduce carbon footprint, increase site safety and ensure programme efficiencies.

Manufactured in our facility in Norfolk the units were delivered to site for storage prior to installation. Our plinths are now carrying 24 battery containers from TrinaStorage to create 50MW battery storage.

Installation took just 10 days versus 2 months of in-situ works, a total of 6 weeks saved on programme! Not only that the all the precast was installed by just 6 crew, a ground team of 3 and a crane team of 3 on site safely and without incident.
